Violence Against Women Act – VAWA

Under the Violence Against Women Act, certain individuals may be eligible to become U.S. lawful permanent residents if they were the victim of abuse committed by a U.S. citizen spouse, parent, or child, or by a U.S. lawful permanent resident spouse or parent. The abuse must have involved acts of battery or other extreme cruelty. Documentary evidence of the abuse is required.
