05 May 2022 Successful Green Card Application Following A Conversion From Family Based Petition To Violence Against Women Act VAWA Petition

We were successfully able to obtain a green card for our client whose U.S. citizen spouse initially petitioned on his behalf. However, before the interview, the relationship between the couple deteriorated significantly and the U.S. citizen spouse engaged in abusive conduct.

We worked with our client on collecting the necessary evidence to document the abuse and establish a strong basis for VAWA petition.

Subsequently, we successfully requested that the family petition be converted to a VAWA petition. After U.S. Citizenship and Immigration Services (USCIS) favorably adjudicated the VAWA petition, we were able to proceed with our client's initial green card application which resulted in approval.
